a little mustard goes a long way

Last Sunday, when we got to church, Grandpa Que put Van on his lap.

Zeb sits on the stand and usually, I run around like crazy to get primary organized and play a few prelude hymns before the meeting starts.

Meanwhile, Van makes a sound of a trumpet as Grandpa Que is giving him a horsey ride on his knee. Grandpa chuckles and thinks nothing of it. As I go to hand Grandpa a bottle of milk for the baby, a mustard colored spot on the carpet caught my eye. As I slowly raise my sight, I see Grandpa's slacks completely drizzled with mustard. Then I see that the mustard was on Van's shoe and on his pants. Instantly, I gasp and realize the horsey ride caused an explosion from a few squirts of mustard.

I then realized this was the only time I didn't bring an extra outfit. I look in the bag for some diapers and see that I was totally OUT. I took a deep breath and decided 'I'm going home just for a change of clothes!' Even though it's a 20 min. drive both ways, it was worth it.

I couldn't believe how prepared I was for church and how unprepared I was for my son.

LESSON LEARNED: Always keep the diaper bag fully loaded!

a visit from the aunties

Had to add these! Van is already so reverent during prayer at church.

Aunt Laura and Tara came to visit this past week. Van had lots of love!

hating his photo shoot

good boy!

Van is so big, strong and intelligent

His muscles are hard as rocks

He hates the plug-he only goes for the food

Sleeps best on his tummy

Already smiles with two dimples, laughs and coos

Has to interact with others and be moving like crazy

Loves music and the Fullmer 'loud' background

Four Weeks

Our first Sunday back to church was almost a success.

We lasted an hour and a half.

With my foot hurting and crazy primary kids yelling and
pushing chairs over, we felt it was time to break.

It's all about football at the Fullmers.....

Van is decked out in his Boise State outfit from

Almost 3 Weeks Old

Raised brows and double chin-so funny!

Our sweet little lamb

Each day Van is growing and changing. He pulls so many different faces I can't seem to memorize all of them. One day he looks so much like dad and the next he looks like mom. We can't figure it out yet. He's been a light to our eyes even though we've lost quite a bit of sleep lately.

It's so exciting to place our little angel in a room I've been working on for the past several months. The babe and I have been camping out in here so Zeb can get his beauty rest for work. It's so sweet that he comes in around 3 am and says, "do you need any help?" and the then passes out in the bed for the next couple hours. Zeb mostly gets his daddy help in after work-he is excellent!

I have to brag a little and thank my creative mother for whipping up this beautiful crib quilt for Van's beach nursery while she was visiting me. I've decided to call it the sand dollar quilt because of the appliqued sand dollars. We picked out the fabric together (mostly batiks-my favorite!) and brainstormed on a design. None of the pieces are the same-I love it! I really don't like following patterns because I think it's quite boring. Somehow my mom knows how I think. Thanks a million mom!! I can't wait for the crib bumper.

Happy Grandmas

Proud Parents!

Three days before my due date I slipped in a rain puddle on my back patio and fractured my right ankle. Thank goodness my mother arrived the next day, just in time for my induction. Van had a slight case of jaundice this past week. Luckily, I have been able to get more food in him and he's been more awake with dozens of prayers. I never expected to deliver with an aircast on my ankle and asking my family to carry Van up and down the stairs in my house. Along with my crutches, I have to do a lot of crawling and scooting to get around my house. What a challenging week it's been but I'm incredibly happy and grateful I get to raise this beautiful child!

Pickles

For all you facebookers-I don't know if you got the joke about some giant cucumbers on our front porch? I'm sure it sounded a little dirty... but none-the-less, we have an interesting couple in our branch and they were so kind to bring us several cucumbers. So, I had to do something with them. While everyone has finished their peach canning...I have accomplished six jars of pickles. First time I've ever done this and I'd have to say they look a little scary but actually smell divine! Thanks to my sis in law Laura for always having the recipe I need. Can't wait to try these things!
